Services Offered by The Center for Men's and Women's Urology

The Center for Men's and Women's Urology can provide services to correct a variety of difficulties. Some of the treatable conditions include:

Bladder Control Problems: Stress Urinary Incontinence and Overactive Bladder
People in all age groups are bothered by this problem. It may be leakage which occurs when a sudden urge to urinate overwhelms a person's ability to control it. Sometimes activities like coughing, laughing, or sneezing precipitate leakage. At other times no warning at all occurs before the leakage happens. More than 20 billion dollars a year are spent on pads, shields and diapers. The mechanism of urinary control is very complex. Muscle weakness, illness and surgery can all damage this fragile system. The result is urinary leakage. Fortunately, many options for cure exist.

Computerized Evaluation
The urinary system is one of the most complicated body systems. As such, in order to adequately evaluate any problems, one has to utilize advanced computer technology to get detailed information. Too often people are given medications without having detailed evaluations. This often leads to inadequate treatment.

Prostate Diseases
A generation ago, most men who had problems urinating were told their only option for help was to undergo prostate surgery. We've learned much in recent years. Now men have many options for treatment. Treatment can now be individualized for each patient. One always has to distinguish prostate cancer problems from non-cancer prostate related problems.

Prostate Cancer
Almost 200,000 men a year are diagnosed with prostate cancer. Close to 40,000 men a year will die from complications of prostate cancer. Our center utilizes the most up-to-date diagnostic technology to screen men for this very serious cancer. Once cancer is diagnosed, the proper therapy must be chosen. There is no one correct option. Many therapies for prostate cancer exist, and our commitment is to find the best therapy for each individual man.

Vasectomy
Vasectomy continues to be one of the most popular methods people choose for birth control. We offer traditional, and minimally invasive "No scalpel" techniques for those men deemed good candidates. Either way, we make sure your comfort during the procedure is always our first consideration.

Erectile Dysfunction
30 million men in the U.S. have erectile dysfunction (ED). This is a significant medical problem with many good treatments. Unfortunately, many men feel isolated and embarrassed and do not seek out help. We are dedicated to the evaluation and treatment of erectile dysfunction.

Kidney Stones
Many have sworn that there is no worse pain than that of passing a kidney stone. Dealing with stones properly means utilizing minimally invasive techniques, and when appropriate, finding the cause of the stone formation. We use the most advanced techniques for treating symptomatic kidney stones and for subsequently evaluating their causes.

Urinary Problems
Blood in the urine and recurrent infections can be the expression of very serious underlying bladder problems. We utilize high tech digital ultrasound and video techniques to evaluate these problems.

Kidney Cancer and Bladder Cancer
Kidney and bladder cancers are potentially curable, but only if found early enough and treated aggressively enough. We utilize high-resolution techniques for making the diagnosis. We utilize progressive surgical techniques so that life can be lived without unnecessary debility.
